Why  Are Honey Bees Important For Planet?

It is fascinating to know that  ‘bees’ are some of the most hard working insects. We should be thankful to these insects for their laborious work.

In the ecosystem, bees play an important role as pollinators. They help in the growth of trees, flowers and other plants, that are food and shelter for various creatures.  A number of different species co-exist due to the intricate, interconnected ecosystem. A certain percentage of the flowering plant species are pollinated by the bees.

Types of Bees

According to a US report,  Worldwide, there are around 25,000 different types of bee species (around 4,000 in the U.S.). This huge number is divided into over 4,000 genera of bees, which are then further subdivided into just nine families of bees.”

How  does  ‘Pollination’ work?

The bees are the pollinators of our agricultural world.  The pockets and hard hair on their legs makes it easier for the bees to collect pollen. They are efficient transporters.

Bees are efficient at pollinating certain crops. The pollen is separated amongst the fruits and flowers. These insects are known to focus on one plant at a time.  With visiting one specific plant, high pollination occurs. The pollen is evenly distributed.

Bees are the “Sources of Food”

There are a few foods that wouldn’t be available for us to eat if they weren’t pollinated by the bees, like for instance: pumpkin, almonds, cranberries, broccoli, apples, watermelons, cherries, asparagus, cantaloupes, cucumbers and blueberries.

Honey is a food product that is offered by the bees, which should not be forgotten. It is stored for the winters by being despised and stored in a honeycomb.  People have now replaced white sugar with amber liquid.

Apart from these universal facts about the bees and how important this species are for the earth, they make the world more beautiful. The floral growth is kept alive by the bees and offer safe habitats for animals like birds.

Bees offer  their delicious honey, yummy fruits & vegetables and beautiful flowery gardens.
