Karwa Chauth 2020

So now that the festivities have taken over the gloomy 2020, here’s another day to celebrate- Karwa Chauth. This day is to symbolise the strong bond of love shared by couples across the nation, wherein they sacrifice their loved delicacies for the day (for some even water- not even a single drop throughout that day!!). So, yes it’s tough but surely not impossible as we have seen people do it happily for their love for each other.

This year it might be a bit different for some as many are still indoors helping flatten the corona curve, so yes they do get to be with their partners (sorry if you aren’t one of them). Even if we are all in a pandemic, festivities shouldn’t stop but performed with a few modifications. Karwa Chauth 2020 will be celebrated on 4th of November on the Krishna Paksha Chaturthi in the Hindu month of Kartik.

According to mythology, Karwa Chauth is observed by married women in India for the long life of their husband. Wherein they fast from sunrise to moonrise and break their fast only after sighting the moon and making the offerings to the moon. But, with time now even the men have started observing this fast for their beloved as a gesture of love.

The day starts with having Sargi early in the morning, which includes some tasty and nutritious food items as per the ritual. Then getting ready for the pooja to be held as per the calendar, but this time we won’t be able to perform the usual prayer in groups. This time all of it will be done virtually through video call but don’t feel let down. Go an extra mile this Karwa Chauth to make it a happening one while you celebrate with your family and friends.

The much-awaited moon can be cited at 8:16 pm, might differ according to your geographical location and weather conditions. Then you can perform the Pooja as per your rituals and break your fast with some water & sweets (before gorging on the best cuisines).

So, get your attires ready and set the alarms for 4th November!!
