Mawsynram
The beautiful village of Mawsynram is situated in the East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya. The rains have made this piece of land the wettest place of Earth. It is located on the top of a hill in the middle of a beautiful valley. It has a recorded 11, 872 mm. of rainfall during peak monsoons in India. This small village has a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Cherrapunji
Cherrapunji lies somewhere in the slopes of Khasi Hills and known to experience rainfall levels very close to Mawsynram. Cherrapunji has received a record rainfall of 11,619 mm. The most of the rains received in Cherrapunji is a result of air being lifted like a large body of water vapour.
Agumbe
Agumbe, a small town in Tirthahalli Taluk district of Karnataka. It receives an average rainfall of 7,691 mm. with beautiful sunsets over the Arabian Sea. The region also houses beautiful waterfalls and varied flora and fauna.
Mahabaleshwar
Mahabaleshwar is located in the Satara district of Maharashtra, it’s one of the highest rainfall receiving places in India. It receives an annual rainfall of 5,618 mm. This place has some ancient temples, dense green forests, waterfalls, that attracts a vast number of travellers to this nature’s gift.
