Spectacular Glimpses of India’s First Bullet Train Station

Indian Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has shared a stunning video showcasing India’s first bullet train terminal at the Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub in Ahmedabad. The video provides a sneak peek into the terminal’s design  – a fusion of contemporary architecture and elements of India’s cultural heritage.

Here’s a video of the bullet train terminal posted by the railway minister:

With cutting-edge and modern amenities, the terminal is poised to cater to passengers traveling on India’s first bullet train, scheduled to run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The initiative is being implemented with assistance from the Government of Japan, encompassing both technical expertise and financial backing.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor, commonly referred to as the bullet train project, is slated for completion by 2028. During his visit to Japan in August, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the high-speed train symbolises the enduring friendship between India and Japan.

The bullet trains running on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor are designed to reach a speed of 320 km per hour, traversing a distance of 508 km with 12 stations along the route. The project is valued at ₹19,600 crore.

An impressive stainless steel mural showcasing the historic Dandi march or Salt Satyagraha adorns the southern facade of the station. Spanning an extensive area of approximately 1,33,000 square metres, the hub building is being erected as a dual structure, allocating space for offices, commercial ventures, and retail establishments catering to passengers.

Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub Specifications:

  • The Hub building, characterised by its twin structure, allocates specific areas for offices, commercial developments, and retail establishments tailored to meet the needs of passengers.
  • The building boasts a dedicated Concourse Floor situated on the third-floor, offering passengers amenities such as waiting areas, retail spaces, and restaurants.
  • To facilitate seamless passenger interchange between Indian Railways and High-Speed Rail (HSR), a ticket counter facility for Indian Railways is provided within the Hub concourse. The passengers can switch from normal Railways to the High-Speed Rail (HSR) with ease.
  • Embracing sustainability, the Hub incorporates various green building features, including the installation of solar panels on terraces, extensive landscape terraces and gardens, efficient water fixtures, energy-efficient air conditioning, and lighting fixtures.
  • The proposed Hub building is strategically designed to establish connectivity to the High-Speed Rail (HSR) Station, both sides of Western Railway Stations, the Metro Station, and the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) through Foot Overbridges (FOBs).

Initiated in 2017, the project was officially launched during a commencement function attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. This will be a boon for the country as it will enable a rapid movement between the two cities making it possible for a remarkable development for the citizens.
