OSCARS 2024: Red Carpet to Winners List – Everything you Need to Know

The hotly-anticipated 96th Academy Awards ceremony came to a grand conclusion at the Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles on Monday. Christopher Nolan’s riveting biographical thriller “Oppenheimer” dominated the evening, securing seven awards, including the coveted Best Picture title, Best Director for Christopher Nolan, and  Best Actor and Best Supporting Actors for Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr, respectively.

The red carpet for the 96th Academy Awards unfurled, showcasing smouldering looks meticulously planned for weeks by star stylists and brought to life by iconic fashion houses steeped in heritage and craftsmanship.

The Oscars red carpet is where grandeur and drama truly shine, sparking social media conversations long before the first envelope is even opened. From the chic and daring styles of nominees like Cillian Murphy, Ryan Gosling, and Colman Domingo to the appearances of red carpet icons such as Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Lupita Nyong’o, the 2024 Oscars once again affirm their status as the Super Bowl of Hollywood style.

The Barbenheimer rivalry continued at the 96th Academy Awards as well Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling shared the stage as presenters. Both were seen giving tongue & cheek remarks for each others charaters played in their respective movies,  Ryan elaborated, “I think I’ve figured out why it’s called Barbenheimer and not Oppenarbie. You’re trailing behind because you rode Barbie’s coattails all summer.”

At the 96th Academy Awards, actor-wrestler John Cena made a memorable entrance onto the stage by underlining the significance of costumes in films in a rather unconventional way – he chose not to wear one himself. Cena, alongside host Jimmy Kimmel, was there to present the award for Best Costume Design. The comic moment unfolded with Kimmel initially pondering about the absurdity of a streaker at the Oscars, only for Cena to playfully join him on stage, strategically concealing himself with an oversized envelope. Kimmel quickly retracted his suggestion, deeming it inappropriate for such a prestigious event. Cena, with humour, defended the male body, highlighting the importance of costumes in filmmaking, ultimately bringing more laughter to the audience.

Best Red Carpet Looks

Emma Stone stood out as one of the impeccably dressed individuals in a custom pale mint peplum gown by Louis Vuitton. Later in the evening, she was honoured with the title of Best Actress for her role in “Poor Things.”

Zendaya, renowned for her role in “Dune,” opted for a stunning single-strapped Armani Privé dress adorned with a striking rose motif and metallic palm tree pattern.

Billie Eilish embraced the corpcore trend with a sleek pencil skirt and blazer ensemble by Chanel. Adding a meaningful touch, Eilish accessorised with a brooch from Artists4Ceasefire, a collective of musicians and actors advocating for peace by urging Joe Biden to call for a ceasefire.

Anya Taylor-Joy’s Christian Dior haute couture gown stole the show as it shimmered and sparkled down the red carpet, looking even more stunning on the live stream.

Carey Mulligan exuded mid-century glamour with her black and white fishtail-shaped gown and complementing elbow-length gloves.

Jennifer Lawrence surprised with an uncommon choice of polka dots in her Dior ensemble, adding a touch of unexpected charm.

Susan Downey accompanied her husband, Robert Downey Jr., who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 96th Academy Awards.

Margot Robbie, the star of “Barbie” and producer donned a Versace ensemble paired with Fred Leighton jewels.
