Indian Medal Tally At The Tokyo Olympics 2020 

We as a country are witnessing several proud moments with our Indian athletes making us feel ecstatic at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020. From badminton, boxing, weightlifting to hockey, we have secured a couple of medals at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. We await many more medals/honours at the Tokyo Olympics!

Weightlifting – Women’s 49 Kg Category

Mirabai Chanu – Silver Medal

The silver won by Mirabai Chanu in the women’s 49 kg category at the Olympics was indeed a great start. The ace weightlifter became the second Indian weightlifter to have won an Olympic medal. Mirabai’s success in Indian sports history will now be written in big & bold letters.

Women’s Singles – Badminton

P.V Sindhu – Bronze Medal

Another glory added to Indian sports history, PV Sindhu, the proud ace shuttler, brings in the Bronze medal at the women’s singles badminton. On this historic win, Sindhu expressed her joy of being at the top of the world.

Historic Moment:

She became the first Indian woman who has won 2 Olympic medals. The shuttler had won her first medal at the Rio Olympics 2016, securing a silver medal losing the gold to Carolina Marin.

Women’s Welterweight 

 L. Borgohain – Bronze Medal

Indian boxer L. Borgohain brought back the Bronze medal in the women’s welterweight (64-69 kg) at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Historic Moment: 

She became the 3rd Indian boxer who had won an Olympic medal after Mary Kom & Vijender Singh.

Hockey – Men’s Tournament 

Medal Won: Bronze Medal

Indian Hockey team clinched the bronze at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The hockey team has recreated history by winning a medal after 41 years. Isn’t it a historic moment? The Indian team defeated Germany by 5-4 to win the bronze.
