Gardening Tips – Get the Greens Right!

The lockdown has pushed us more towards our natural habitat with everyone trying out new things, one of which is gardening as many started it for peace and contentment. But it is not that easy, that it looks with just some water and sunlight that it needs. One needs to be considerate and warm while raising a plant as they are no less than one’s child who needs proper attention for growth.

Here are some easy Gardening Ideas for Beginners to Kick Off!

1. What you wish to sow

Choose which kind of a plant you wish to sow it could be a herb, flower, vegetable or whichsoever plant you wish. You should keep in mind that the beautiful looking flowers are seasonal and need to be replanted every season.

2. Pick Your Spot

The place where you wish to grow your plants is very crucial as it all depends on the kind of exposure a plant receives. As 6-8 hours of full sunlight exposure each day is important for good growth, but also keep in mind some plants die of excess sun exposure.

3. Improve the Soil

It is important to use a good quality fertile soil to let your vegetables grow. Add a good amount of compost to achieve a healthy flourishing soil that is capable of popping the much-desired harvest. A good soil bed allows the roots to penetrate the soil more easily to access water and nutrients.

4. Choose the Right Ones

Each weather has its characteristics which promote a particular kind of plant. Mid-spring and mid-autumn are good times to plant new saplings, but certain plants like tomatoes with most annual flowers grow better in warm temperatures.

5. Water it Right

Protect your seedling from drying out with regular watering, transfer to another pot if required before it establishes its roots. The frequency of watering depends on the soil, humidity, and rainfall. It is important to water slowly & deeply to let the soil soak in water.

Also, keep a check there are no moulds or insects that could be hampering the growth of your plants.
