Amitabh Bachchan is giving the young actors competition by doing great work at his age. Recently, he proved his brilliance yet again in his movie ‘Badla’ which did extremely well at the box office. Currently, he is playing a mean landlord in Gulabo Sitabo with his co-actor Ayushmann Khurrana and also, he is a part of an adventure fantasy drama directed by Ayaan Mukherjee movie Brahmastra along with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
It was in 1969 that Amitabh Bachchan made his Bollywood debut with his movie Saat Hindustani, and now after four decades, he is still busy entertaining the audience with his great performances. Now on his 77 birthday, Big B has just adorned another feather to his already-bejewelled cap as he has been selected for the Dada Saheb Phalke award for his immense contribution to the Indian film industry in the year 2018.
Bachchan, whose body of work is unparalleled in Hindi cinema, has been honoured with four National Film Awards till the date, for the milestone films like Black, Paa, Piku and Agneepath. He was also awarded the Padma Shri in 1984, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015 for his incredible work in the many movies.
The Dada Saheb Phalke award, the highest recognition in Indian cinema, was conferred on the late Vinod Khanna in 2017.
The news of this honour about Big B was announced by Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar by Twitter.
He wrote, “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and the international community is happy. My heartiest congratulations to him.”
