Met Gala 2019- Theme & Costumes

Met Gala also known as Met Ball and formally called the Costume Institute Gala. It is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York. Met Gala is one of the biggest events for the fashion industry wherein fashion designers, artists, actors, musicians and models come together and celebrate the event. Met Gala is held on the first Monday of May every year. Each year there is a theme or a dress code for the party. Designers work closely with celebrities on their outfits.

Met Gala theme for 2019 is ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’. The theme is inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay that defines camp as “love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.”
