Jack Dorsey’s Epic Reply to Mark Zuckerberg’s Follow Request on Threads

Meta’s microblogging platform Threads, monikered ‘Twitter Killer’ has managed to consistently make news since its launch. The debut of the app has intensified Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg’s conflict.

However, it appears like the CEO of Meta is doing some preliminary research to determine where other Internet titans stand in the Twitter vs. Threads controversy. And he has singled out none other than Jack Dorsey, the former CEO and co-founder of Twitter. Zuckerberg sent Jack Dorsey a follow request on the brand-new network, prompting the founder of Twitter to retort “Too soon b.”

The follow request has become a hot topic of conversation among netizens. Dorsey’s reply has received 3,157 retweets and more than 7 million views. Twitter is overflowing with this fun banter as users react hilariously to this screenshot. One user wrote: Zuck should open an account on Twitter, He is missing something important!

Another wrote: Block him Jack, to which Jack Dorsey gave a tongue-in-cheek reply: trying.

Decline it, quipped another user.

Most Twitterati were inclined towards Dorsey rejecting the request: Reject him. I wanna see what happens, another person echoed.

While others simply “Love the banter”.

A few days ago, Jack Dorsey criticised Threads for being too similar to the microblogging service. He even wrote in a Twitter post, “We wanted flying cars, instead we got 7 Twitter clones” He wrote this in response to a comment that noted that there are several social media sites that resemble Twitter. The message included several services, including Twitter, Jack Dorsey’s brand-new platform Bluesky, Mastodon, message News, and Meta’s Threads.

Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, has harshly criticised Zuckerberg for launching Threads. Meta, which owns Threads, received a legal warning from Twitter claiming the social media behemoth stole trade secrets to introduce its Threads platform.

The banter between the Twitter and Meta CEOs over Threads is not new.

A Meta executive had reportedly commented during a meeting that they have ‘been hearing from creators and public figures who are interested in having a platform that is sanely run, that they believe that they can trust and rely upon for distribution’.

Elon Musk had reacted to the report and tweeted he is up for a ‘cage match’ with Mark Zuckerberg, who had then asked Musk to ‘send location’. A  repartee between the two tech experts ensued.

Internet users always stay ahead of time with their witty comments. And as the rivalry between Elon and Mark continues, netizens always stay ready with popcorn.

Threads has already had 150 million downloads. Similar to the microblogging platform, users of the app can submit text and links, as well as reply to or repost messages from others.
