Young Sports Achievers of India

Sports are a huge part of our lives in a country like India where physical activities have been a part of our growing up journey. Staying outdoors and playing some or the other sort of game is what all kids love. Let’s talk about a few shining stars from India who caught everyone’s eyes.

Manu Bhaker

The young and dynamic Manu Bhaker got all excited with her debut at her first-ever 10 m Air Pistol Commonwealth Games. She is a natural talent evolving as an athlete who played various sports before settling down for the best.

Mehuli Ghosh

At the age of 17 debuting at Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast, Mehuli won herself the podium with raising the bar higher. She also scored eight gold medals at the 61st National Shooting Championship Competitions in New Delhi (2017). Her first international accolade came from Asian Airgun Championships held in Japan, 2018.

Neeraj Chopra

He is the boy who scored India’s first-ever Javelin Throw Gold medal in Asian Games. He achieved a victorious throw of 88.06m, which was 5.84m longer than his near opponent.

Jeremy Lalrinnunga

Jeremy’s weight lifting journey began when he was just a 10-year-old child. In 2018, Asian Championship he broke two National Records guaranteeing Bronze medal (Junior) and a Silver (Youth). He is the winner for India’s maiden Gold medal at Youth Olympic Games (2018) held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

At the 2019 EGAT Cup International Weightlifting Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand he won Gold in the men’s 67 kg class.

Hima Das

Born in a farmer’s house this sprinter from India made heads turn, she is the youngest at home that helped her explore and choose the best for her. Her list of achievements include reaching the finals of Junior National in 2016 with winning the Gold in Asian Games, Jakarta in 200m with an individual best of 23.59 seconds.

The tally of consecutive awards won her a name for a lifetime. It includes a gold medal in Women’s 400m event with a period of 51.46 seconds at World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland.
